"Gateway Overhead Doors in Daly City CA is run by a man named Vrej Minaie. Though he does very good work, he overcharged me by at least 60%, according to other garage door opener installers. I was in a corner, and had to get 2 door openers installed ASAP, and even though I queried the the exorbitant price, he assured me that based on the far superior quality of the openers he would install, along with the added labor, for a somewhat complicated installation, it was more than reasonable. My mistake was that I took him at his word. When other installers finally returned my call, they told me that I was overcharged by at least $600! I called Vrej Minaie back to give him the opportunity to make things right, he argued with me. He is unfair and he will take advantage of anyone who is in a tight spot."

Editor’s Note: The Prime Buyer’s Report staff spoke by phone with Gateway Overhead Doors owner Vrej Minaie who claims that only the quoted and agreed upon price was charged, and that price was arrived at taking into consideration that it was not a straightforward installation of the two automatic garage door openers as there was a waste pipe in the way.  

Customer Ralph S. explained to us by phone that for one of the two openers, all that was done was to set it further back and use an extension arm, and that the difference between the price of the units and the total amount charged equals a labor charge of $1,200 for four hours of labor, which he believes is exhorbitant, and that two companies he spoke to after installation quoted $900 instead of the $1,600 he paid to Gateway Overhead Doors and owner Vrej Minaie.
